Ciompi Quartet Presents 2017 Summer Chamber Music Series

We are pleased to announce the 2017 Ciompi Quartet Presents, a summer chamber music series in Duke Gardens, celebrating its sixth season in the beautiful Duke Gardens Kirby Horton Hall.

The Ciompi Quartet Presents a musical series featuring the expected and the unanticipated. Expected are the long-appreciated performances by musicians known personally by the audience for excellence in artistry, virtuosity and musicality. Individual ensemble players will delight with an excitement that can only be achieved in the intimate setting offered by Duke Gardens’ Kirby Horton Hall. Unanticipated is a series that is relentlessly novel, engaging and enjoyable. Eric Pritchard will be joined by pianist James Tocco for a program of some of their favorite works from the violin sonata repertoire Jonathan Bagg will offer a program for flute, viola and piano that draws on a deep and persistent vein of romanticism from Bach to the 20th century. Fred Raimi will close the summer’s series with a family affair by performing with his brother violinist Max Raimi, partner pianist Jane Hawkins, and family friend, violinist Nicholas DiEugenio. Join us and be delighted and inspired by the 2017 Ciompi Quartet Presents chamber music series at Duke Gardens.

Single tickets are $25 General Public; $20 Non-Duke Students/Duke Employees; $10 Youth/Duke students. Purchase single tickets online beginning May 15.

CQP2016vericalbannerWe are pleased to announce the 2016 Ciompi Quartet Presents, a summer chamber music series in Duke Gardens, celebrating its fifth season in the beautiful Duke Gardens Kirby Horton Hall.  These concerts consistently sells -out and the audience continues to delight in the intimate and relaxed setting that has come to define this summer series. The opportunity to hear the Quartet members share their individual curatorial insights and programming inspirations add a joyful excitement to each concert evening. This summer the series begins with a program presented by Jonathan Bagg that builds on his study of light and shadows where he compares composers, styles and virtuosity. Eric Pritchard will again delve into the works of Bach, this time questioning the original intention for these works. Fred Raimi will end the summer’s series, this time adding voice and violin to his memorable piano and cello duo repertoire. We invite you to join us for the 2016 Ciompi Quartet Presents, which continues to be one of the must-see chamber music events of the summer.

Ciompi Quartet Presents on WCPE

WCPE 89.7FM, featured all four Ciompi Quartet Presents summer concert series performances on their Sunday evening “Preview!” program. On June 22 Tara Lynn interviewed Jonathan Bagg about his July 1 & 3 double-bill presentation titled Elation, on July 20, Eric Pritchard talked about his concert — a three-year survey — of great contrapuntal works by J. S. Bach, and on August 10, Fred Raimi shared information about his program, which will included works by the great composers Beethoven and Fauré. All summer series concerts take place in Sarah P. Duke Gardens, Doris Duke Center, Kirby Horton Hall.
