Grant Us Peace: Music and Readings Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of 9/11
September 11, 2021, 7:30 pm
FREEDuke Chapel musicians and the Ciompi Quartet perform compositions with themes of remembrance, peace, and reconciliation by composers such as Joan Tower, Felix Mendelssohn, Shireen Abu-Khader, Ned Rorem, Ola Gjeilo, and George Walker. The musical performances are interwoven with poetic commentary.
Please note: Face masks are required on the Duke campus in all indoor and outdoor locations. See the university’s public health measures.
In addition to the Ciompi Quartet as instrumentalists, the musicians are Duke Chapel Schola Cantorum, singers; Chapel Organist Christopher Jacobson, organ and piano; and Dr. Zebulon M. Highben, conductor and director of Duke Chapel Music. The concert, cosponsored by Duke Arts, will be livestreamed at this link and below.
