Commission New Works
The Ciompi Quartet has premiered hundreds of new works by such composers as David Kirkland Garner, Alan Chan, Stephen Jaffe, Anthony Kelley, Scott Lindroth, Carl Schimmel, Paul Schoenfield, Melinda Wagner, Robert Ward, Andrew Waggoner and Donald Wheelock.
Our advocacy for new work includes commissioning, performing, presenting, recording, publishing, archiving, teaching, mentoring, and encouraging the next generations of artists and audiences.
Invite Distinguished Collaborators
Recent distinguished guests have included Branford Marsalis, Nnenna Freelon, Julianne Baird, Oliver Cavé, Awadagin Pratt, James Tocco, Min Xiao-fen, Jennifer Johnson Cano, Gabrielius Alekna.
Create Recordings
The ensemble has put a particular focus on recording works that were not previously available. They have recorded for New Focus Recordings, Naxos, CRI, Arabesque Records, Albany Records, Gasparo, Sheffield Lab, and Toccata Classics.
Tour Internationally
The Quartet has toured throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and the Americas.
